The debate between low bid purchases and buying local sparked elongated discussion once again at Monday night’s Newton City Council meeting. The purchase of two new squad cars for the Newton Police Department respectfully pinned city administrator Bob Knabel’s duty to find economical choices against the council’s stated commitment to purchase local goods and services whenever possible.
